If you’ve ever been caught on a traffic-choked highway, fought and lost with an on-the-fritz appliance, or heard a curious crash from the kids’ playroom (read: everyone), you know how it feels to want to get away from it all. But, maybe not really ”it all.” Like it’d be nice if a cozy bed, a hot shower, and a poolside cocktail were there. That’s why when we stumbled upon this quaint treehouse escape, located a couple hours outside bustling Toronto, we were instantly smitten.

The treehouse is owned by Lynne Knowlton, the designer behind the blog Design the Life You Want to Live. It’s got all of the shabby-chic treehouse charm you could want, from a reclaimed wood interior to an idyllic outdoor patio meant for lounging. Lynn promises plush bedding and windows that overlook 100 acres of forests and hiking trails.

Then, indulge your inner child by literally sliding down to the home’s forest floor.

To make the experience even more comfortable, Lynn’s added a separate, private bathroom with hotel-like ameneties but the same upcycled, rustic style.

And perhaps the biggest surprise is the property’s super-luxe outdoor kitchen and in-ground pool. Now this is a secluded retreat we can get behind.
